Frequently Asked Questions About Uhmingle
Everything people usually want to know before or while using Uhmingle — how it works, whether it's safe, and how it compares to other random chat sites — grouped by topic.
General
Is Uhmingle free?
Yes. Uhmingle video chat and text chat are completely free, with no subscription and no hidden paywall.
Is there a limit to how much I can use Uhmingle?
No. There's no daily cap on matches — you can use Uhmingle as many times as you like, all day if you want to.
Do I need to sign up for Uhmingle?
No account is required. Uhmingle works directly from your browser — just open it and start chatting. See our no sign up chat page for more on how that works.
What is Uhmingle?
Uhmingle is a free random video and text chat platform that pairs you with a stranger online instantly, with no sign-up, no download, and active moderation running on every chat.
Is Uhmingle real, or just a landing page?
Uhmingle is a working random video and text chat platform. Open the site, hit start, and you're matched with a real person online at that moment — not a demo, and not a waitlist.
How does Uhmingle actually work?
Open the site, optionally set interest tags or a country filter, then choose video or text chat. The matching system instantly pairs you with someone else online, and Next moves you to a new match any time.
Do I need to log in to Uhmingle?
No. There's no login screen, no account, and no password anywhere on Uhmingle — you open the site and you're matched directly.
Is there an Uhmingle app to download?
No download is needed. Uhmingle runs entirely in the browser on both desktop and mobile, so there's nothing to install or update. This also means there's no separate iOS or Android app required.
Video & Text Chat
Can I switch between video and text chat on Uhmingle?
Yes, you can switch modes at any time, whether between matches or mid-conversation.
Does Uhmingle work on mobile?
Yes, Uhmingle is fully responsive and works on mobile browsers without needing a separate app.
How do I skip to a new match on Uhmingle?
Tap Next at any point during a chat and you're connected to a new random match instantly, with no limit on how many times you can do this in one session.
Why do I keep getting disconnected on Uhmingle?
This is usually a connection issue on one side. Check your internet connection, refresh the page, or try Uhmingle text chat instead.
Are there bots on Uhmingle?
Matching connects you with real people online, not automated accounts. If you suspect bot or spam behavior, report it the same way you would any other violation.
Filters & Interests
Can I choose who I'm matched with on Uhmingle?
You can add interest tags or a country filter to shape your matches, but pairing is otherwise random — that's the point.
What do interest tags do on Uhmingle?
Interest tags tell the matching system roughly what you'd like to talk about, so you're more likely to land on someone who picked a similar topic instead of starting from nothing.
How does the country filter work on Uhmingle?
Setting a country narrows your matches to people chatting in from that region instead of a fully worldwide pool. We've got dedicated pages for the USA, the UK, India, and Germany if you want to jump straight into one of those.
Can I chat without picking a country or topic at all?
Yes. Leaving both open, sometimes shown as "Surprise Me," gives you a fully random match from anywhere in the world — see meet people worldwide for more on that.
Safety & Moderation
Is Uhmingle safe to use?
Uhmingle is for users 18 and older and is backed by AI-powered content moderation and a one-tap report button on every chat.
What happens when I report someone on Uhmingle?
The chat ends immediately and the report is reviewed. Depending on severity, this can lead to a warning, a suspension, or a permanent ban from Uhmingle.
Can minors use Uhmingle?
No. Uhmingle is strictly for users 18 and older and is not directed at, or intended for, minors. See the 18+ Content Policy for details.
Privacy
Does Uhmingle record my chats?
No, Uhmingle does not store video, audio, or text chat content after a session ends. See the Privacy Policy for more.
How Uhmingle Compares
Is Uhmingle an Omegle alternative?
Yes. Uhmingle offers the same free, random one-on-one chat format that made Omegle popular, with active moderation running the whole time. See our full Omegle alternative page for a closer look.
How is Uhmingle different from OmeTV?
Uhmingle uses the same random video matching concept as OmeTV, but with no sign-up step, free interest tags, and a country filter included from the first chat. More detail on our OmeTV comparison page.
How does Uhmingle compare to Chatroulette or Camsurf?
All three are built around instant, random video matching with strangers. Uhmingle keeps the format completely free with no premium tier, and pairs it with active AI-assisted moderation and a one-tap report button in every session.
Is Uhmingle similar to Shagle, Bazoocam, or Emerald Chat?
Yes, in the sense that they're all random-matching chat sites. Where Uhmingle tends to differ is keeping every core feature — video, text, interest tags, and the country filter — free with nothing gated behind a paid tier.
What's the best free alternative to these random chat sites?
That depends on what you value most, but Uhmingle is built specifically around staying free and unlimited, with no account needed and moderation running by default rather than as an add-on.
Are there alternatives to Uhmingle worth trying?
Other random chat sites exist, and comparing options is reasonable. Where Uhmingle tends to hold up well is keeping video chat, text chat, interest tags, and the country filter free with no premium tier — a few alternatives gate some of those behind a paid plan instead. See our comparison list for a closer look at how the major options stack up.
